According to bmwusanews.com, the 3-liter engine found in the BMW M240i won BMW’s 33rd WardsAuto 10 Best Engine Award since 1995, keeping BMW the undisputed all-time award-winning leader, and holding the inline six cylinder's place as the all-time BMW leader.

For the third straight year, BMW Manufacturing has set a new annual production record. During 2016, they produced 411, 171 X Model vehicles at their plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

BMW has named a new managing director for its plant in Regensburg, Germany.

And on Feb. 1, 2017, Manfred Erlacher, will take up the new position. Erlacher was the former President and CEO of BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Knudt Flor, who is currently responsible for BMW Group corporate quality, will succeed him.
