BMW released a unique film on BMWFilms.com. The Oct. 23 movie, directed by Academy Award-nominated director Neill Blomkamp, featured celebrities such as Dakota Fanning, Clive Owen, Vera Farmiga and Jon Bernthal.
Owen plays the driver, and the all-new BMW 5 Series sedan acts as his co-star/vehicle of choice. The film is a tribute to the 15th anniversary of the original series, “The Hire.” The two-season 2001-02 series featured eight short movies directed by some of Hollywood’s top talent. However, they always featured Owen—then a rising star—as a mysterious driver employed to complete an array of missions.
“When we commissioned ‘The Escape,’ our only direction was that the story remain of utmost importance and that it should live up to the standards set by ‘The Hire,’” said Hildegard Wortmann, senior Vice President, Brand BMW. “Neill, Clive, and the entire cast did a tremendous job, and we are confident that ‘The Escape’ not only meets that standard but sets a new one.”
