There were only about 5,000 of these built for the world. This is the first year that the car was available in the US and this one only has a little over 22,000 miles on it. We assisted the owner in moving the car here from the mid-west as he and his wife are relocating to the Oregon coast. We sold one about a year ago to someone who is on the coast also in the same color combination. Rare car indeed but to have 2 silver on red cars within a few miles of each other will be pretty cool.
1973 BMW 3.0 CSL | AKA Luigi
BMW made about 140 3.0 CSL shells for use in racing, they kept some for their own use and handed out a few to select race teams. This one was one of three that were given to Luigi Cimarosti, a Belgian race team owner. It was raced all over Europe in from 1976 until 1981. The car sat untill1992 when it was restored and subsequently raced by Adolfo Parizza and finally retired in 1998. It sat in storage until the current owner got wind of it and brought it to SeaTac on January 28, 2013.
It has been restored to pretty much the same set-up as 1976 with the addition of a few modern safety features.
It does still see the track occasionally along with the owners other track cars, a BMW E30 M3, an early 1970's 2002 and a very rare BMW 700 along with a few others- you may even spot his wife in a red 2019 X3 M Competition in the area. The owner is a huge BMW enthusiast and a good friend to BMW of Salem. We thank him for allowing us to show off his collection.
