With worldwide sales giving our preferred automaker a solid start to the year, the attention its new models are garnering is an added bonus. Among these is the 2017 BMW 5 Series, which enters its seventh generation with an inside-and-out redesign, a laundry list of new features, and a driving experience that continues to raise the benchmark it has set—and maintained—for decades.
First, the goodies. The new 5 Series comes with your choice of either a turbocharged inline-four with 248 hp/258 lb-ft of torque, or a turbocharged inline-six with 355 hp/332 lb-ft of torque. Whichever you choose, they give the car plenty of power, and the steering experience remains at the top of the midsize luxury class. Also on tap are new tech features, like Remote Control Park (which debuted on the 7 Series), an available Bowers & Wilkins sound system with diamond speakers, and more.
